Join us Wednesday January 26th as Kevin Pook Community Development Worker at Toronto Intergenerational Partnerships in Community (TIGP) shares how to build strong partnerships within communities.
“In 1981 a group of community-minded individuals came together as a working group in Toronto’s Riverdale community to respond to the needs of two distinct groups: children and youth, and seniors. This became the foundation of what is now Toronto Intergenerational Partnerships in Community (TIGP) which formally came into existence in 1986. Since then, TIGP has been the only non-profit charity mandated to bring generations and communities together through intergenerational programming. Toronto Intergenerational Partnerships in Community develops programs that value, support, and welcomes the contributions of all individuals.
Rooted in community throughout its history, TIGP encourages people of all ages to share their knowledge, skills, interests, and life experiences with others through the volunteer experience and though its programs. Since its inception, TIGP has built strong partnerships within communities to offer support, resources, skills, and knowledge specific to the development of successful intergenerational programs and activities, working towards a society that values and welcomes the contributions of all people throughout their lives.”
